Elokuva- ja televisioalan vuosittaisessa golden globe -palkintogaalassa on jälleen palkittu joukko näyttelijöitä, elokuvia, sarjoja, ohjaajia, käsikirjoittajia ja muita alan tekijöitä. Tämän vuotinen Golden Globe -gaala oli järjestyksessään 78. Palkinnot jaettiin tänä vuonna Los Angelesissa ja New Yorkissa, ja kiitospuheet toimitettiin etäyhteyden välityksellä.
Parhaan draama-elokuvan palkinnon voitti Chloe Zaon ohjaama Nomadland, ja Zao sai myös parhaan ohjaajan pystin. Parhaan musikaali- tai komediasarjan palkinnon sai Dan Levyn ja Eugene Levyn ”Schitt's Creek”, jossa näytellyt Catherine O'Hara sai puolestaan parhaan näyttelijättären palkinnon.
Parhaan animaatioelokuvan palkinnon sai Pixarin ”Soul”, joka sai ensiesityksensä joulukuussa 2020 Disney Plus -striimialustan välityksellä. Draamasarja-kategorian voittajaksi valikoitui Peter Morganin ”The Crown”, ja sarjan näyttelijättäret Olivia Colman sekä Emma Corrin saivat puolestaan parhaiden naisnäyttelijöiden palkinnot. Samainen sarja sai myös parhaan näyttelijän palkinnon, joka meni Josh O'Connorille. The Crownin sivurooleista palkittiin Gillian Anderson sekä Helena Bonham Carter.
